Why does the RAPT method work? Because it’s designed to make use of the natural instincts that your dog was born with in order to get your dog to obey you.
Choosing the Right Dog Breed
Depending on your personal situation, certain breeds may or may not be suitable for you. For instance, some are snappy around children; others need a large amount of space to run in every day. There are certain dogs that will happily spend time alone while you’re at work, but others who’ll become anxious. It’s important to research the traits of a breed before you buy to ensure that he really will fit in with your lifestyle, therefore maximizing the chances of having a happy and contented dog.
You can choose from the following dog breeds to suit your work or whim :
Smooth coated Chihuahua
German Shorthaired Pointer
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Pembroke Welsh Corgi
English Springer Spaniel
American English Coonhound
Bernese Mountain Dog
West Highland White Terrier
Chesapeake Bay Retriever
Chinese Shar Pei
What’s the difference between training a puppy and an adult dog? Answer: not an awful lot… You see, dogs learn though repeat and reward, no matter what their age. And this means that you go through a pretty similar process of training either an older dog or a puppy. Sure, with an older dog you might have to break a few unwanted habits, but this is still done through the repeat and reward process.
Dogs are not like humans – they don’t have logic. And this is why many people struggle to train their dog or puppy. Once you realize they have a completely different way of seeing the world than humans, dog training becomes a whole lot more simple.
